Is it offensive to tell someone you noticed they've lost weight?

Is that like asking "are you pregnant"

I feel ABSOLUTELY no offense when people's jaws drop and they say "GEEZ GIRL! How much weight have you lost?" It keeps me in reality because some days I say to myself that I'm just the same old same old with no change and all this work is a waste.
